About The AVPA Leadership Development Centre

Africa needs between USD 500b- USD1.2t annually between now and 2030 to meet its SDG targets. In view of declining aid and government funding, this gap can only be closed by crowding-in private capital. For this to happen, the continent requires a critical mass of social investors competent in innovative finance to take advantage of the abundant impact opportunities that the continent presents. There is need for a better understanding of the opportunities presented by innovative finance in mobilizing and deploying capital for maximum impact.

The AVPA Leadership Development Centre is a learning platform built to enhance impact investing capabilities amongst African social investors. The centre connects professionals to thought leaders, experts, and global impact investing practitioners to learn how to integrate impact investing into their investment strategies. The platform is a core part of AVPA’s mission to build an effective continent-wide impact ecosystem, with the ultimate aim of increasing the flow of capital into African social investments and ensuring it is deployed for maximum social impact.

Testimonials

"Deliberate leadership is one thing I have taken away from this fellowship. I also learned that impact and financial return rank at par. I am now actively applying actionality and intentionality in my financing activities."

Fabrice Nze-Bekale,

ACT Afrique
"I took this program to expand my lens beyond my current scope and learn from best practices from more advanced markets. I wanted to reconstruct my mental framework on how to look at impact investing. One of the things I have learnt is that you have to be deliberate when looking at impact while investing"

Wycliff Bitta,

Goodwell Investments BV
"From this fellowship, I have learned from world-class thinkers and global impact-investing practitioners as well as an impressive peer network of individuals dedicated to solving the world’s most challenging problems. I thoroughly enjoyed unpacking the nuances of wicked problems and the importance of deliberate leadership as custodians of social finance."

Maya Burney,

Caleo Capital and Womvest Ventures
“I was keen to join the fellowship because impact investing is an extension of ESG. The world is riddled with problems like climate change and many more and therefore a deliberate type of leadership is required to solve these issues, the fellowship gave me resources and tools to tackle this with new approaches”

Dominic Isunuoya

Angelus Capital Partners
“I joined the Fellowship looking to further explore my understanding of impact investing and connect with people that are equally interested in the space. The biggest lessons have been from the wealth of knowledge shared from the case studies we read to interacting with other Fellows, to the diverse guest lectures I attended. I got to see impact investing from a practical perspective”
