The flow of capital to SMEs in Africa is yet to match the intensity of the prevailing policy rhetoric on SME financing despite broad consensus on the importance of SMEs to job creation and economic development. Across Africa, access to finance remains a key constraint to SME growth and is one of the most cited obstacles to growth reported by small businesses on the continent.
