Investing in Primary Health Care to Strengthen Health Systems across Africa
We are delighted to invite you to a webinar on innovative financing for developing and scaling primary healthcare projects in Africa. The African Venture Philanthropy Alliance (AVPA) is organizing this virtual event in collaboration with the United Nations SDG Partnership Platform and Philips Healthcare – one of the world’s leading healthcare companies. |
Date: November 9th 2020
Time: 5:00 pm (Kenya)/4:00 pm (South Africa)/3:00pm(Nigeria)
Venue: Online
Speakers: Will include senior leaders in the health impact investment space, including AMREF Health Africa, Philips and others
Philips supports the set-up of a healthcare impact investment vehicle, that aims to scale successfully tested primary healthcare projects in sub Saharan Africa. Their mission is to improve the lives of 2 billion people by 2030, including 300 million who are underserved.
Whilst there are many innovative primary care projects in Africa, many focus on one specific disease, only serve a small (private) segment of the population, or struggle to reach scale. Partnerships, including public private partnerships, can catalyze transformation at scale and make sure healthcare innovations benefit everyone, including those at the bottom of the pyramid.
The focus of this virtual convening will be to dive the importance of primary healthcare as an engine for realizing Universal Health Coverage, present the rationale for this transformative fund, as well as its mandate and pipeline projects. Lastly, we would like to present to you opportunities to participate, as investor and/or as investee and open the floor for questions and discussions.
We look forward to virtually meeting you!
