‘In recent weeks, Kenya has experienced significant unrest, marking what could be a historic turning point for the country and even the continent. The events in Kenya remind us of both the collective power of our youth but also the need to work collectively and constructively in closing the opportunity gaps across Africa. They point to a period of transformation, indicative of the change needed across the continent. They give us a chance to revisit not only how we use existing capital but also how we innovatively mobilise, deploy and blend new capital for impact. By addressing the SDG financing gap, we can improve living standards and create economic opportunities, especially for the youth.
What does this mean for the impact ecosystem? Now more than ever, there is a pressing need to reform our practices and invest consciously, holistically, and inclusively.’
