The power of blended finance to build back stronger.

Dr. Manu Chandaria
“Demonstrable accountability measures by Government especially in response to COVID19 Emergency response is key in giving confidence to private capital and donations.”
Dr. Richard Munang – United Nations Environment Programme
“There lies opportunities in the youth, the informal sector and mobile money platforms in contributing to financing social investments towards the achievement of the SDGs”

These are some of the highlights from a recent webinar held on the role of blended in resolving Africa’s issues.

The broader theme in having these meetings is creating initiatives aimed at increasing partnerships that would enable Africa to achieve the SDGs by being adaptive to the changing funding landscape. This will involve creating strategic alliances between Governments, Multinationals and other Stakeholders. Covid-19 has highlighted the need for more emphasis on blended finance and tailor-made financing models to help Africa develop. Knowledge on this sector is critical and will need increased urgency and promotion. Africa needs cannot be achieved without alliances, new financing models and creation of opportunities for the private sector.
